Hello--I'm Kate. Though I don't have much experience using the computer to make my work, I'm excited by the prospect. The book project is particularly interesting for me. I took Elizabeth Mackie's Book Arts course and spent some time at
Women's Studio Workshop this summer, where I was able to observe many artists making their own artist books. Ever since, I've been looking for the chance to work on a more ambitious book.
Here's one of my sculptures--a book the size of a single bed, with cloth-covered foam for a cover and bed sheets for pages. I painted the words of Margaret Atwood's poem
"Variation on the Word Sleep," on the pages, which, incidentally, was the same poem I used for my Digital Imaging I book project.
